Happy Birthday, Sweet Yogi!!

Can you believe this little guy is 14 today??

He really doesn’t show his age in photos.

But he has arthritis in his hips and knees, so his age shows sometimes when he walks! :-(

Yogi is the only Westie we’ve ever had.

Westie is the short name for his breed-

the West Highland White Terrier.

So, we thought how clever he was to tilt his head back and forth when listening to someone talk. 

Then we saw the Westie on the Little Caesar dog food commercial on TV do the same thing!!

All Westies do it!!  LOL!!

But he is, without a doubt, the smartest dog we’ve ever had!

And the most stubborn!  Grrr!

He hates squirrels with a passion… and rabbits!

He loves sweets like cake and cookies… dunked in coffee!

He has baked chicken almost every night mixed in with his dry food…

but loves, Loves, LOVES hamburger and steak!!

So, tonight on his birthday, he will get some!!

He is a great lover of quilts. 

As my bee friends will all tell you from personal experience,

you put a quilt down on my floor and he is ON IT in no time!!

I think I have more photos of him than of my kids and hubby!!

You must admit, he a cutie patootie!!

Mary Engelbreit

I love Mary Engelbreit!   I always have!

I love her whimsy and use of bright colors mixed with black and white.

My sewing room in our previous house was decorated all in Mary Engelbreit stuff!!

And I’ve been collecting Mary Engelbreit fabrics for years!!

So, I saw a scrappy friendship quilt on Pinterest made with a large panel and smaller squares received in an exchange between friends.

And fell in love with it!!

Such a great way to use up my stash of her old and new fabrics!!

Many of the fabrics have been out of print for years, so I wanted to use a bit of all of them!!

I loved making it!  I found I had as many black background fabrics as light ones, so I arranged my fabrics in a checkerboard design alternating the dark and light fabrics!

I put the large panel off center in a lower corner so that it would be displayed when the quilt is folded and draped over a chair!!

I quilted it all over in a simple meander as the quilting design would not show up much due to how busy the various prints are!!

I added large red rickrack and smaller black rickrack around the panel and added doubled buttons in the corners!!

The resulting quilt is super fun!!!

My husband and I are going on a Mediterranean cruise in a few weeks, so I’ve stopped working on quilts to make some new clothes for the trip!

Today is Happy Sibling Day!!

Grooviness Galore!

I was a teenager in the 60’s-70’s!!  Man that’s really telling you my age!!  LOL!

I was in our new Haymarket quilt shop and saw the new Tula Pink “Elizabeth” fabrics! OMG!! So amazing!  So I mixed and matched a bit and came up with this little 12 FQ bundle!

Kim, the owner of “Oh Sew Persnickety”, the quilt shop, had asked if I wanted to teach a beginning quilt class, so I wanted to use her fabrics in the class sample.

I LOVE the Yellow Brick Road pattern and think it’s a great quilt for beginners.

So, here’s my version of it for her shop sample!

And with these crazy awesome fun fabrics, what better name for it than “Groovy”??

I must have made Yellow Brick Road quilt about a dozen times for all occasions and fabrics!

It’s probably my most favorite quilt design ever!!

Yogi wants to know if you have a favorite go- to quilt design?  Oh, and he wants you to know he was a very good boy today for the groomer!!
