Old Glory

I finished my bargello flag wall hanging that will "fly" over my mantle for summer.  I named it "Old Glory".

I made it from a bunch of red, white/beige, and blue fat quarters and scraps in my stash.  I love it when you can make a whole project from stash, don't you?  It was really quick and easy!  I just cut 2 1/2" by 22" strips from the FQ/scraps and sewed them together along the long edges alternating red and white/beige.  Then I cut strips of different widths from 1 1/2" up to 3" and laid them out on my design wall moving them up and down to create the wavy effect.

After I sewed all the pieced strips together,  I put the finished top and backing right sides together with batting on one side and stiched all around the edges leaving an opening to turn it through.  After I turned it right side out, I quilted it using a wavy stitch with my walking foot and red, white and blue variegated thread.  Easy peasy!!
So, what did you make this weekend?

Here Comes Summer!

Did you see the cute summery quilt on the front of the newest Fons and Porter "Love of Quilting" magazine?

I loved it as soon as I saw it!!  The other gals in my bee all commented on liking it and wanting to make it, too.

The fabrics used in the magazine are very traditional and repro types, which is sooooo not anywhere in my stash!  So I made mine out of more modern fabrics.

I also added some 1/2" white rickrack inside each watermelon block.  I sewed it over the seam between the red and green fabrics.

I think it looks like the white part of the
 watermelon rind, don't you?

I named it "A Slice of Summer"... pun intended!  I found a picnic themed Debbie Mumm fabric for the backing and I used a really pretty summery label with sailboats on the back!  Now I can't wait to put away all my spring decor and get out all my summer stuff!

I'm about half done with a bargello flag quilt wall hanging to display above the mantle for summer!  Hope to finish it tomorrow...but maybe not as I've got quilt guild tomorrow night, too!  Sigh!
Do you decorate for summer?

Kelly's Embarrassed!?!

Kelly over at Charming Chatter posted that
she was embarrassed that she had shown
 everyone her stash.
Whaaatttttt???
You call that a STASH??????

Here's an up-close of one of my three
shelf units in my stash closet.

Here it is full view.

I've got more in sets of drawers under my table.

My stash continues to overflow into sets of
drawers all over the room. And don't forget
the individual FQ's, charm packs, jelly rolls,
honey buns, and FQ bundles stuck in all over.
OK, Kelly!
You can't possibly still be
embarrassed NOW, right???
OK, so who's next?
Who will carry the torch next and
 SHOW US YOUR STASH???
