I finished my bargello flag wall hanging that will "fly" over my mantle for summer. I named it "Old Glory".
I made it from a bunch of red, white/beige, and blue fat quarters and scraps in my stash. I love it when you can make a whole project from stash, don't you? It was really quick and easy! I just cut 2 1/2" by 22" strips from the FQ/scraps and sewed them together along the long edges alternating red and white/beige. Then I cut strips of different widths from 1 1/2" up to 3" and laid them out on my design wall moving them up and down to create the wavy effect.
After I sewed all the pieced strips together, I put the finished top and backing right sides together with batting on one side and stiched all around the edges leaving an opening to turn it through. After I turned it right side out, I quilted it using a wavy stitch with my walking foot and red, white and blue variegated thread. Easy peasy!!
So, what did you make this weekend?
