Scrapology!!

In preparing for leading the SASSI (Stash And Scrap Intervention) Gals class at the Artful Quilter quilt shop on Sunday, I opened my three big scrap drawers in my sewing room. I don't ever really open them fully...just a slit big enough to shove some scraps in and then close it real fast!! But to get some scraps to bring to work on at the class, I actually opened those three drawers and went through everything...holy moley!! I have LOTS of scraps. And the majority of them were in little grouped piles or baggies...scraps from different quilts...some baggies even had little orphan blocks leftover, too. So, now my mind is on using these scraps to make cool totes and purses, cosmetic bags, book covers, place mats, tea cozies, table runners, etc. I'm figuring that not only can I use these scraps up and empty those drawers, but for useful purposes... like Christmas presents and birthday presents and maybe even some neat stuff for me!!

So, I am into Scrapology!! Here are my first two products!

A little cosmetic bag! From scraps from a quilt I made from the Bleeker Street collection... bought at City Quilter shop in NYC!!

A little soft box to sit on my sewing table for me to throw my selvages in!! I'm hoping to collect enough selvages now to make some cool stuff I'm seeing on the Selvage Blog!!

And Yogi even likes my little selvage box, too! He is feeling much better. He is not even limping now. WHEW! We are feeling we dodged a huge bullet with just a sprain. We are still carrying him up and down stairs, but that's it! So relieved he is not hurting!! Thank you for your prayers! They worked!!

Good News So Far...

I was up all night worried about my Yogi. He seemed to sleep real well... probably due to that pain pill he had previously last night. He sleeps on the bed with my husband and I , so I kept waking up all night to check on him... so it's gonna be a long day for me!

I took him to the vet this morning when it opened. The doctor examined him and watched him walk around and feels Yogi just took a mis-step and strained his repaired knee. It felt to the doctor like the repair was not broken. So he is to continue on the pain pills for a few days and go back to restricted access in the house- no stairs (gotta get the baby gates back out) and no jumping up on furniture. That is the hardest thing to keep him from doing... as with many small terriers, he lives up on the top of the back cushions on the couch. So now, like right after his surgery, he'll be staying in our front powder room that looks out on the front of the house, whenever we are gone form the house.

I am soooo relieved that it looks like at this point he did not re-tear the repaired knee ligament. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for my little Westie's continued good health!

Yogi's Hurt Again! :-(

I just found out about a neat spring mini-quilt swap hosted by the Quilt Gallery. You can click on this link and find out about it! http://quiltinggallery.com/swaps/spring-blooms-2009/

I am SOOOOOOOOOO glad it's the weekend. I am teaching a scrap group at the Artful Quilter shop on Sunday from noon to 3:00 pm, so will be finalizing my thoughts and ideas tomorrow for what we do there. I will be pulling my own scraps to take with me to work on, as well. My scraps are kept here in my sewing room. Think I have enough???? YIKES!!

Tonight while simply walking across the family room while my husband and I were watching TV, my little Westie Yogi yelped and sat down quickly. He would not get up and was protecting the leg he had ACL surgery on back on January 28th... here's a photo of back then right after his ACL surgery.

He was completely back to normal until this. So confusing because he was just walking when he hurt it. I've been on the phone with the doctor on call at his vet office. I gave Yogi a pain pill as the doctor advised and will take him to the vet first thing in the morning. Keep him in your prayers! He's such a sweetie and an integral part of my family. We hope it's not serious.
