Where Does the Time Go?

I told you about the UFO activity our local quilt guild in a previous post.  I have four Christmas quilt kits on that list, and now I’ve finished three of them.  Yay!!  This was one of them that I showed you before-

The corners cut off the tree flying geese units were saved and sewn together to make half square triangles.  I used those scraps and some others to make this little table runner for my foyer.

I LOVE it when leftovers come together so perfectly…

and fill an empty space so well!!

The third UFO quilt is a gift, so I can’t post pictures of it until after it’s been given!!

I also made this cool little sewing organizer.

It’s called The Beatle Bag from Abbey Lane quilts.

I’ve not filled it yet with sewing thread, scissors, needles, etc…

And, I needed a quilt for the hall wall hanger for the Christmas season.

I used bits and pieces from Nancy Halvorsen’s book- “Christmas Favorites” to create my own Santa wall quilt!

I used only stash to make this, which really makes me happy!!

And I especially LOVE the curly print I used for the beard and mustache!!  I quilted on the curly lines and it looks GREAT!!

I’m thinking I finally have all the Christmas decorations I need for our new home!  YAY!

So, are you super busy getting gifts made/bought for family and friends?

Who Talked Me Into This???

I LOVE autumn and especially Halloween. Below was Halloween in my old home!!

DSCN1932

So, I have made LOTS of Halloween dolls and decor and quilts over the years…

DSCN1917

so I have LOTS of Halloween fabric scraps!!

IMG_3444

I fell in love with Kelly’s postage stamp quilt on her blog, Charming Chatter, and decided to use up those scraps to make a Halloween postage stamp quilt.

IMG_3442

I completely emptied that bin of smaller scraps and used some of the many Halloween fat quarters I’ve collected to cut lots and lots

postage stamp 1

and lots of 2” squares.

postage stamp 3

And I’m sewing the squares into 16 patch blocks which will finish at 6”.  I’ve got about 30 sewn up so far…

This will take  F O R E V E R!!!

But it will be an awesome quilt, I think!!

So, what are you up to these days????

Scrapology!!

In preparing for leading the SASSI (Stash And Scrap Intervention) Gals class at the Artful Quilter quilt shop on Sunday, I opened my three big scrap drawers in my sewing room. I don't ever really open them fully...just a slit big enough to shove some scraps in and then close it real fast!! But to get some scraps to bring to work on at the class, I actually opened those three drawers and went through everything...holy moley!! I have LOTS of scraps. And the majority of them were in little grouped piles or baggies...scraps from different quilts...some baggies even had little orphan blocks leftover, too. So, now my mind is on using these scraps to make cool totes and purses, cosmetic bags, book covers, place mats, tea cozies, table runners, etc. I'm figuring that not only can I use these scraps up and empty those drawers, but for useful purposes... like Christmas presents and birthday presents and maybe even some neat stuff for me!!

So, I am into Scrapology!! Here are my first two products!

A little cosmetic bag! From scraps from a quilt I made from the Bleeker Street collection... bought at City Quilter shop in NYC!!

A little soft box to sit on my sewing table for me to throw my selvages in!! I'm hoping to collect enough selvages now to make some cool stuff I'm seeing on the Selvage Blog!!

And Yogi even likes my little selvage box, too! He is feeling much better. He is not even limping now. WHEW! We are feeling we dodged a huge bullet with just a sprain. We are still carrying him up and down stairs, but that's it! So relieved he is not hurting!! Thank you for your prayers! They worked!!
