Busy Summer!

Nowadays, I do most all my online stuff either on my iPhone or iPad, but I still find it easier to post on my blog using my laptop. And I feel so silly at times, on my laptop, when I try to make stuff happen by touching the screen!  It's a regular old laptop- NOT a touch screen!  HA!  Do you ever do that?

Well, I can't remember if I told you all that we are finally going to have our first grandchild in early October!!  We are sooooo very excited to meet this little man!!  So, of course, I've been busy sewing up some fun baby stuff!

I shared this little quilt on Facebook, but the rest of them are to be gifts and will be shared with you after the baby shower here in mid- August!

We have a spare bedroom upstairs that we've always called The Baby Room...in hopes of getting some grandkids!!  We went to Ikea and got a crib and changing table for this room so maybe we'll be allowed to babysit when my son and his wife come back to our area to visit us and their friends!

This little quilt was made using one charm pack and is the perfect size for a utility quilt that can be used in a carriage or car seat!  I've got a few more to make up, too. I'll take photos of our little room when all is done and revealed at the shower!!

I made this little charm pack quilt for a friend's new little baby, Owen!  Isn't he just beautiful??!!

I also made up this cute tote bag for my dear sister Sally's birthday!

The panel is from Jillily Studio.  The fabric collection is called Bicycles and Blooms and it's just adorable!

I just dropped my feed dogs and free-motion stitched all around the design and then stippled the white background.

I forgot to show you these mugrugs I made to thank our guild board members and committee chairs for the last guild meeting of our 2015-16 year.

We meet in a local elementary school, so our guild year runs from September through June.  I was president last year and will be again this year.

These mugrugs were so fun to make...and I only had to make 30 of them!!

Well, I've got so much more I can share with you after the baby shower in August! You'll just have to stay tuned!!

Yogi is not loving this hot summer, so he stays mostly inside with the AC on!! Hope you are keeping cool if you're in summer and warm if you are in winter!! Snow sounds pretty good when our outdoor temps are near 100!!

Chipper Love!

I love me some Tula Pink fabrics!  Our guild had her come speak a few years ago and she was as delightful as her artwork!

I gave my son the first quilt I made from the Sparkle Plenty pattern, so I needed to make a new one!

So, I used Tula Pink's awesome Chipper fabric collection.  Just stunning!!

I love, love LOVE this line!  The sleeping fox is the star , as far as I'm concerned, NOT the chipmunk!

I was looking for more of a muted effect this time, so I used a softer color fabric for the controlled areas.

My quilt is hanging in the window of our local quilt shop- Oh Sew Persnickety, which just thrills me every time I drive by and see it!!  Woo hoo!!

If your area is getting the non-stop rain we have been getting for the last 6 weeks, you must be developing webbed feet like us!!  UGH!!  So sick of no sun!!

Yogi is getting some good snoozing in, though! LOL!!

So, what are you up to these days?  Can you believe it's almost JUNE!!

Catch Up

I've got a few more completed projects I can share with you!

First off, a very dear friend, Suzanne, severely fractured her back helping her husband put away the artificial Christmas tree in January.  She was in such terrible pain and had to be on super strong meds and had injections in her back, too.  And this was an even bigger tragedy as Suzanne is our world traveler - always on the go everywhere!  Super strong and independent!  So, it was really hard to see her all strapped up in a back brace and unable to do much of anything.

So, I made her a soft warm flannel quilt to wrap up in... to let her know our bee is always there for her and wishing her comfort and strength!!

I loved finding the small friendship panel on eBay to add to the corner.  The quilt is all flannel and the pattern is used is Yellow Brick Road.

I bought the flannel for the backing online and it was too bright a white for the front colors, so I threw it in my washer with a tiny bit of tan Rit dye to beige it down a bit.

I was pleased how it turned out and I think Suzanne was, too!!

Next, I made my dear 93 year old Mother an applique pillow for her birthday.

The small pink and white flowers look just like the camellias we used to have in our yard growing up.

My Mother was an amazing gardener.  She loved being out there in the yard pulling weeds and tending to her flowers.  I did not get that gene from her!  I hate pulling weeds and can even kill silk plants!!

Lastly, I finished the spring embroidery mini wall quilt and have it already hanging up on the wall!!

I love these seasonal designs from Kathy Schmitz!  They are just adorable and so fun to stitch!  I'm about half done with the hand embroidery on the last one- the summer one!

We are to have a few nice warm days this week... temps up to 75!!  Woo hoo!!  Yogi can't wait to find a warm sunny spot on the ground to lay on!!

Springin' Time!

I am sooo very ready for spring!!
Aren't you?  Yogi sure is, too!!

Tomorrow I will put away all my snowmen and other winter decorations and put out my spring stuff.  YAY!!

Bunnies and chicks and garden stuff!!

I've got an idea for a new spring applique' wall quilt to put in the spot where I just put the new snowman quilt.  I'm currently pulling stash fabrics for it... stay tuned!

But I did make these little quilts designed by Edyta Sitar, which were all in one pattern and used 2 batik charm  packs.

Have you caught the spring bug yet?

Yogi loved sitting on the porch enjoying our little tease of warm weather!

In the Meadow...

I fell in love with this cool applique' snowman pattern!

And I had the perfect place to put it!!

However, the quilt size was too small for the wall spot, so I added 10" to both width and length.

But in doing so, the size of the snowman was too small for the larger quilt size.

So, I added a bottom ball of snow,

two tree branch arms,

and more snowflakes and wind curls.

I was thrilled to find the perfect scarf fabric from Tula Pink!!

Yogi was, as usual, very interested in the making of my "In the Meadow".

Are you all getting lots of sewing done this winter?
