She Who Sews!!

I absolutely LOVE the artwork of fabric designer Janet Wecker Frisch.

DSCN4112

In case you aren’t familiar with her name, she is the designer of “The Hungry Animal Alphabet”, “Woody Wonders”, “Tiny Tailors”, “Camp Santa”…just to mention a few!

Well, she’s done it again with her new Handmaids collection named-

“She Who Sews”.

I just love it!!  Her artwork is fun and fresh!!

DSCN4115

This collection is very steampunky!!

DSCN4124

I especially love the fabric I used for the backing!!

DSCN4118

When I finished the quilt, I only had small scraps leftover, so I ordered more fabric!!

DSCN4117

It will make great gifts for your sewing friends and bee mates!!

And this quilt is now hanging on the wall in the entrance to my sewing room!!

January Schnibble Done!!

I really love this month’s Schnibble!!
DSCN4075
I named it "Soft Spoken". The fabric
collection is "Whimsy"by Fig Tree Co.
DSCN4081
I did  not have enough darks to make mine the same way Carrie made hers on the pattern cover.
DSCN4085
But I really love how it turned out!!
DSCN4091
And using the polka dotted background really makes the blocks blend in more…
DSCN4092
really blurs the blocks, which I really like!!
DSCN4087
I love and monetarily appreciate that many designers tend to use the same colors in their different collections so that they all blend well, so that you can use scraps up in other quilts!!
DSCN4096
My backing was from another collection from Fig Tree Co…  yummy!!
DSCN3935
Soooo, what fun thing are you doing this weekend besides watching the Superbowl commercials?

Mondo, Mondo…

Do you need a big tote bag?

DSCN4099

A REAAAAALLLLYYYYY big one?

DSCN4102

Well the Mondo bag is the one for you!!

DSCN4103

It’s easy and really fun to make as you use a purchased gridded sheet of fusible.

IMG_2124

You lay out your selected 2 1/2” squares  on the grid and fuse them down with your iron.

IMG_2128

Then you fold each row on the line and stitch a quarter inch seam.

 IMG_2127

Then you clip that seam at each line,

IMG_2131

then fold the seams going the other way and stitch them all with a quarter inch seam!!

Such a fun easy way to do grid piecing!!

IMG_2129

There is also a pattern for a tiny bag called a Mini and a medium sized bag called a Midi!!

Quiltsmart Midi Bag Fun Bag

I used a batik jelly roll for the bag and have lots of it left to try out on the Midi bag!!  YAY!!

Can you guess what Yoginess was doing while I sewed???  LOL!!

What are you working on this week?
