My Four Squared Debut Today!

I am so excited!  Today my “Four Squared” quilt is posted over at the Moda Bake Shop!  Woo hoo!

It was such a fun quilt to make using a jelly roll, charm pack and a bit of yardage! 

It’s the same design is this one in totally different colors! Chartreuse!!

Trippin’

Today my third set of designs are

posted at the Moda Bake Shop!!  It’s a five piece set for vacationing!

I named it “Trippin’!”  They are made with the “Oh, My” collection by Sanae… truly luscious fabric!!

The set includes a hanging bag

a large weekender sized tote bag,

a laptop case,

a cosmetic bag,

and a small day tripper bag.

Welcome to the Spring 2011

Bloggers Quilt Festival!

I designed this quilt as my first honey bun project.  I really LOVE precuts of all kinds!  What a genius idea for us busy quilters!  I am the first to admit, the absolutely worst part of quilting for me is cutting!  I hate cutting all the quilt parts…  it takes me f o r e v e r , too, as I measure like twenty times before I cut so I don’t make a mistake and waste fabric…sigh…

So, designing and sewing quilts with pre-cuts sure does get you past the yucky cutting part quicker and into the fun piecing and quilting part!  YAY!

So, this is my first version of my “Counting By Fives” quilt made with a Mary Engelbreit “Attitude Girls” honey bun.  I used one of my favorite Moda fabrics for the background… “Make Life” fabric with all the fun words on it!!

I am a Mary Engelbreit freak and have been for years…  love her whimsical art and her use of bright colors and black and white…  so really love this quilt!!  I made this one in August and with my mind on having to go back to school (I’m a teacher) in a few weeks, I thought of “Counting by Fives” for the name.

I remade the quilt in “Charlevoix” collection for the Moda Bake Shop.

The beautiful summery crisp colors of this collection just begs for a warm summer day, a picnic basket, friends and family gathered, a great bottle of red wine…

Spring Break

It’s sooooooo nice, or should I say SEWWWWW nice to be off from work!  The trees here in northern Virginia are in full bloom and the lovely lime green film of pollen is beginning to cover all horizontal spaces outside….aaaaachooooo!!

so for me, another good reason to stay inside and in my sewing room!!  I live on antihistamines in spring…and  summer…and fall…sigh…

So, for the first two days of our spring break,

Yogi and I are holed up in my sewing room finishing my next set of projects for the Moda Bake Shop.  The two piece project sorta grew as I went… to another 5 piece design set!!  :-)

Soooooo, what does your sewing space look like when you in in the middle of a project???

Do you listen to music while you sew, or have a movie or show on the tube in the background?  I have a very old little TV/VCR device in my sewing room that a few years ago, I attached a tiny DVD player to… and I have a nice collection of chick flicks in my sewing room.  I rarely look up at the screen… but can sure rattle off the scripts for most all my favorites films!!  How about you??

Yogi usually just sleeps as I sew…or looks out the window at the back yard.  Those darn squirrels!!  They just torment him constantly!! When  he’s not in the sewing room, he loves to sit in the front doorway and watch those punk squirrels cavort around out front!  He has evil plans for them…
 
P.S. FINALLY saw the hand doctor and sure enough I need a little 10 minute surgery to release the tissue at the base of my thumb that is making the tendons catch...but of course, he can't fit me into his surgery schedule for another 3 WEEKS!!!!!!!!  Grrrrrrrrrrr!  :-(

Finally Done!!

I did finish the binding on one quilt

at bee on Saturday!

At bee, I also finished about half of the binding

on my “Blue Garden Days” quilt made from

the Strip Twist quilt pattern

that is so fun to make

even though it uses partial seaming!  Still fun!!

It took me FOUR nights to compose the design directions for all 5 MBS projects…

MAN!!  That’s a realllllly longgggg post! 

Woo hoo!!  All done!! 

I still don’t know when it will be published, but I’ll let you know when I find out!!

Ok, OK, so I’m a blogslacker… sigh

              but let me explain!!

I’m working on a new project for the Moda Bake Shop.

It started out as a single thing and has developed into a four part thing.  Can’t say more but I did snap a few tiny little sneak peaks for ya!!

The fabric is just absolutely YUM!!

  The colors are soooooooooooo springy…

and BOY do I need spring! Big time!!

Sooooo, I hope to finish them all

tomorrow and get on with something

I can actually share with ya!!
