Snow Days

Hopefully today’s snow storm will be our  LAST  this winter!!

Next Sunday we “spring forward” and change the clocks, so surely spring is on the way, right?

Well, I just finished this quilt kit I bought from Keepsake Quilting over a year ago!

The pattern is called Snow Days by Hen Scratch Quilting.  I am soooo pleased with how it came out!

The fabrics are so perfect for the design!

I really enjoyed making the little houses!!  All those fabrics have  little white dots that perfectly depict falling snow!!

And the tree fabric with the little birds is just so perfect to go between the houses.

The quilting was fun, too. 

I wanted it to look like a wind blowing the snow around!!

I had bought a flannel to put on the back, but it was too bright…sigh

Then I found this Alexander Henry snowman fabric in my stash!!  Woo hoo!  A match!!

It looks great on my blue chair in the library!!

OK.  Yogi says NOW it’s TIME for SPRING!

Where the heck is spring?

Here in DC suburbs, we so don’t want any more snow!!

The annual Cherry Blossom Festival begins this week here in DC and it’s been so cold, the majority of the trees are not blossoming!!

We are sooooo ready for spring!!

I think we need a new groundhog!!

Of course, the snow does not bother some…

Our First Snow Day!

I bought this cute sign from Connecting Threads and

 

just put it on my sewing room window last night. It was wonderfully prophetic!!  We woke up to ice-covered roads and walks, so

NO SCHOOL!!  YESSSSSS! 

I should be upstairs sewing this very moment… but am here with my second cup of coffee watching the latest Masterpiece Theater series “Downton Abbey”

I love period pieces… and could sit here all day watching it.  But am only allowing myself 2 hours of

lollygagging and SAVORING!!

Then I’ll be off to get this top all pinned and ready to quilt!  My bee mate Suzanne gave me this kit for Christmas and it is soooooo me!  

Bright and fun!

The name of the pattern is “Holy Snowballs” and is the perfect project for my first snow day off!!  :-)

Flannel Quilt Top's Done!

I just lovvveeee snow days! Today was probably our last one of the winter for this year, even though we have one more built into our school year. We got about 8 inches today. By 10:00am the clouds had blown away and the sun was out! And wonder of wonders, the snow plow actually came to our little cul de sac and plowed it! That NEVER happens! So, that means, we'll be in school tomorrow but with a 2 hour delay....so maybe I can sew for those 2 hours... or sleep! Either one works for me!! :-)

This is the pattern for the kit- "Take Five" by Teacher's Pet.

So, my flannel quilt kit I bought at the quilt show on Saturday is all pieced and even sandwiched with backing and batting....just waiting to b e quilted. Haven't decided what thread to use yet.

Would you use white or grey or pale blue? Maybe I can find a nice variegated one to enhance it!

I'm thinking big swirls like the wind on a snowy day would be a nice motif to quilt on it. I don't pre-mark my quilts, just free motion quilting. What would you choose? Leave me a comment and let me know! Stay warm and God Bless! Polly

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

Here my Westie Yogi is patiently waiting by the front door while my dear husband Al shovels a potty area and the front walk so we can take him out to pee!! It's been snowing all night! It's a snow day here in Fairfax, VA!! I am soooooooo sewing today! I'm putting all current projects aside and sewing up the flannel kit I bought this weekend at the quilt show!
