Merry Christmas To All!!

I think my holiday ducks are all finally in a row at this point!  Whew!!  :-)

DSCN4019

Gifts are wrapped and ready.

DSCN4011

Fridge is full with the makings for our Christmas meals.

DSCN4023

My husband is Italian, so our traditional meal for Christmas is meatballs and stuffed shells.

DSCN4027

We’ve got waaay too many sweet breads and desserts sitting around… sigh…

DSCN4031

Yogi has been groomed!!  YAY!

DSCN4017

We will attend 8:00pm Mass tonight so we can sleep in tomorrow morning!!

DSCN4033

I never showed you some of the things I made last month and this month.  This was a gift to my parents.

I thought the apple print could be used for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This table runner was for one of my dear sisters!

IMG_2018

It was a bargello kit from Connecting Threads.

Here is the new tree skirt I made…

from some cute modern fabrics!

DSCN4036

I also made a new table runner from the same cute fabrics!!

DSCN4024

I love the addition of light and bright pink and lime green!!

DSCN4025

I especially love the bright pink fabric with the white reindeer, don’t you??  The pattern is the disappearing nine patch!!

And this is the new wall quilt I made for over the mantle.

DSCN4015

I strip pieced the trees from my scrap drawer.  I named the quilt- “The Tree Lot”!!

Now, I’m already thinking about what to make to put up there…

Quilting Again!!

DSCN3697

I finished the 6 placemats and large table runner from the Strawberry Fields fat eighth bundle.  Whew!

DSCN3703

The table runner is super big… 25” wide by over 100” long!!

DSCN3698

The table we will buy for our new house will be a long one, so I made this runner long!!

DSCN3701

But in making it so long, I learned a valuable lesson!

DSCN3699

This little sewing table in this little corner is way too small for anything that big!!

DSCN3705

It was a pain to quilt!  So, no more big stuff to be quilted here!!  If I make any big tops while here in this tiny apartment, I’ll put it away and quilt it later when I’m in my new sewing room in the house!!

DSCN3707

A bloggy friend, JoAnne, sent me this photo she found on Facebook…  we couldn’t decide if it was cute or creepy…  what do you think?

Yogi cake

I don’t know if I could ever cut it to eat it!!

Yogiboy agrees!!

Soooo, whatcha sewing on?

Christmas Placemats and Runner

I made my parents new placemats and napkins for Christmas.

DSCN3372

My folks place uses pink, maroon, and green colors, so I found some Christmas prints with those colors.

DSCN3318

I designed them to look like a present with a big bow on the top.

DSCN3373

The bow is made by folding the napkin like a fan/accordion, then slipping it into a loop sewn into the top of the present.

DSCN3374

The backing is a holly print on a black background.  What I’ve trained my boys to do with placemats is to flip them over to the wrong side when using them… that way if you get any food stains on them, it will only be on the wrong side!  When the placemats are just out on the table being decorative between meals, the front side is always spotless and pretty!

DSCN3375

I also made them a new appliqued table runner for their coffee table.

DSCN3403

I used stash scraps for all of it!

DSCN3389

The holly leaves and ribbon were fused on then stitched around the edges.

DSCN3394

I added red buttons for the berries.

DSCN3401

And the backing is a gorgeous watercolor looking holly on a black background!

DSCN3399

I didn’t add a label, in case they wanted to use either side!

DSCN3398

And I’m feeling really good about these gifts…as I already sent them to my parents last week, so they can actually use them this Christmas season!  And they called and said they love them!!  YAY!!  So, parent’s gifts are crossed off my list of to do’s!!

What are you sewing on these days?  Gifts?

A Bit More Curio!!

I just posted a few days ago about finishing my March Schnibble in time for the online parade. Whew!

DSCN2379

When I was trying to find the needed 2 charm packs of the Curio collection for the quilt, I could  not find one place that still had 2 packs for sale, so I purchased a Layer Cake instead.

curio layer cake

So, I cut the Layer Cake squares in two, setting aside one “half” stack for later and just used the other half, split again into two stacks of 5” squares for the Schnibble quilt.

So, what to do with the remaining half of the Layer Cake???  I arranged the 5” by 10” pieces on my design wall, along with a few 5” squares leftover from the quilt, to make a bed warmer / table runner!  Love the versatility!

DSCN2401

Four strips wide by about 10 strips long gave me a runner 18” by 90”!  I had some yardage of one of the florals in the collection for the backing and used a stash fabric for the binding.

DSCN2405

I free-motion quilted it with leaves!!

DSCN2409

I really like it on my dining room table for spring!!  And no leftovers to store away!  YAY!

DSCN2410

Gosh I do so L.O.V.E. being home for spring break so I can sew all day !!
