Busy, Busy Week Here!!

Soooo busy here!  My younger son, Anthony, and the love of his life, Leah, get married next weekend!  Smile

This past week, I made three different dresses before finding one I liked enough to wear to their wedding.

dress pattern

This is the vintage Vogue pattern I used.  The dress is all black linen except for one sleeve and half of the bodice…which is red linen.

My son, Anthony, is an architect and has an artist mind…therefore, the wedding is a black and white wedding… with a tiny touch of red!

The girls are wearing black satin dresses and the guys are wearing  black suits, white shirts black ties and red plaid socks!

And Anthony is very much a modern minimalist kind of guy.  So figuring out what quilt to make them for their wedding was reallllly difficult for me!!

I was VERRRRY worried that they would not like whatever I made.

But, they did like it!!  Smile

YAY!  I am soooo relieved!!

Leah posted this photo she took later that night on Facebook!

And they texted me this photo when they got back to their apartment!  Smile

I Love “Speck” a bushel and a peck!!

I finished this month’s Schnibble… actually a “Little Bite”…  Carrie’s new collection of patterns for Moda’s newest precut- the tiny 2 1/4” mini-charm packs.

I made mine from Sandy Gervais’ “Monster Bash collection.

Super quick and easy little quilt to  make!!

I‘ve needed a little table quilt for Halloween, so it is perfect!!

And because I might want to use it on the reverse side sometime, I did not put on a label.

And now I can’t wait to start on Hubble for the October Schnibble… but as my younger son is getting married in two weeks, it will have to wait until after October 6th!

This week, I gotta get my dress for the wedding made…

Soooo, what are you working on this fine autumn weekend??

A Twofer and a Nametag

We normally have our local guild meetings every second Thursday evening of each month during the school year from September through June, as we meet in a nearby elementary school cafeteria.

However, sometimes we have to move the date due to something going on at the school … like this month!  Our first meeting is this Thursday…and it just dawned on me that I had not done anything with our summer challenge fat quarter!  Sad smile

At the same time, I received an invite to a dear friend’s daughter’s house warming…sooooo, this little project turned out to be a “Twofer”.  I love Twofers, don’t you??

I used some batik charm squares along with the purple batik fat quarter given for the summer challenge, to make a table runner that I can show at the guild meeting in two days…

and then it will be a gift, along with a matching candleholder and autumn candle, for the housewarming gift!!  YAY!!  A Twofer!!  Smile

Then, after making the table runner yesterday and going out this morning to find the candle holder and candle, I got home to remember that I wanted to make a new guild name tag.  The one I had was made in 2000 and is beyond grody!!!  Yucko!!  Time for a new one!!!  So, I spent this afternoon making a new one!!

I saw this one on Pinterest and thought it was so cute!

(  So that gave me the idea to make my nametag with a sewing machine on it!

I snagged this logo off the Bernina newsletter to use as my inspiration!!

I used graph paper to  plan out my little sewing machine block.

Then went through my stash scraps to find the perfect fabrics in fun colors.

Yogi sleeping

I knew I wanted to attach it to this cute sewing themed pin, which would make it easy to put on!

It was really fun to create…and not a hard as I thought it would be with such tiny pieces.

I am pleased with how it turned out and will be ready on Thursday now for our guild meeting!!

Sooooo, whatcha working on???

Sewing Seeds of Love

I saw this quilt kit in the new Hancocks-Paducah catalog and fell in love with it!!

I must admit, however, that I also looked for the kit online at

and found it cheaper!!

I love the online shop I bought it from- Ft. Worth Fabric Studio!!

Their prices are good and their service is amazing!!  So fast!!

You can see how interested Yogi was during the cutting part… sigh… wish I could sleep so well!!

The pattern is a free one from Quilting Treasures.  Get it HERE!

I did change a few things, though!

I thought it was weird that it had the look of a sampler design but two symmetrical blocks were the same and the other two symmetrical blocks were different…

soooo… I made all 4 blocks different.

The next thing I changed was removing the red flange type mini border

and I changed the brown border to blue…

and added green corner stones!!

So, I am really pleased how it turned out!!

And I think now that it’s done and he can sit and lie on it, Yogi is liking it now, too!!

I quilted it all over with free motion leaves.

I love the backing fabric!!

Red cherry tomato pin cushions!!

How fun, huh???

So, what are you sewing on this weekend?
