  1. It was so warm here almost 80 this week it has never been this hot this early. Today it went down to 40's and they are worrying about all the flowering trees (magnolia) that have started to bloom may die before completely out. I just love spring but not this way.
How did you enjoy The Hunger Games series? I am thinking about reading them do you recommend?
I live up In Ontario Canada so that is why this weather is so unusual we usually have snow this time of the year.
By the way How are you feeling? Better I hope. Blessings Sandra

  2. Thank you so much :) I'm so excited to dive into these books. And remember, always count your eggs before they hatch, or before you hide them :) Enjoy the Spring!

  3. In addition to being a quilter, I work a B&N, so I'm a bookseller. I was lucky enough to read all the Hunger Games books before they were published. I think they're outstanding. We're going to see the movie next week. The youngsters at work, have already seen it, and loved it.

  5. Yogi looks worn out!

My husband and I went to see the Hunger Games on Friday night. Loved it. Neither of us have read the books but I do think I will.

  6. I have heard the books are really good! I haven't read them yet. I heard the movie sticks pretty close to the books--but I still want to read them before I see the movie.

  7. Congrats to the winner... now, how did I miss this??? I think I missed the blog hop. :-/

I had a sew day here at my house with a few friends. We played with the Rapid Fire Hunter's Star Ruler. I "NEED" one of these... soon! Sewing tomorrow after church and on Monday as I borrowed one gals ruler.

Spring has sprung in the desert southwest... mid 80s a bit past 7p.m. and warmer the next few days. I want to go to the beach... or north.

Polly, could you send some rain "west?"
~Winston sends 'woof' regards to Yogi.

  11. OMG!! Going to see the movies today!! AAHHHH!!! Can I tell you I am a S-L-O-W reader but I got through each of those books in only two days!! I even re read the first one with my 10 year old son!! Oh, he sat and cried with me as Rue.. well you know!!! :`) So we are going in two groups today because my MIL, Daughter, Son, Honeyman, and myself have all read and LOVED the books! 12. I read all three. I had to push myself through the second one and I'm glad I did. It is haunting and you can vizualize this happening to the United States. It is very unnerving. I don't think it should have a PG 13. Kids have enough to worry about.

  13. I saw the Hunger Games on Friday night with my DD2 and SIL. I enjoyed the movie although I think the topic is disturbing. I have not read the books but my daughter and son-in-law have and thought the movie did a good job following the story.

  15. Dear Polly - thank you so much for leaving a comment on my blog - www.westiejulep.blogspot.com. It's so much fun to connect with folks that have westies and especially one that is as cute as yours!

I now one of your followers and since I'm just learning how to quilt - all the fabrics, colors, patterns are overwhelming - basically I want them all but am still learning how to sew that perfect 1/4" seam!

I also fell in love with the Moda Bakeshop blog - I've copied that link for my girlfriend as we need to know exactly what a jelly roll is ... basically all the 'technical stuff' ... I subscribed to that site as well.

Hopefully one day we'll meet since we're in the St. Michaels area of the eastern shore - and I'm a new member of the Bayside Quilters Guild here - before I forget - check out Jane Sasseman's blog on My Blog List - her fabrics are pretty wild and exciting.

Look for my group page on Facebook called WESTIES HEALTH -- FROM EARS TO TAIL - it's a place that deals with health related issues only ... maybe you're already a member?

    All the best,
    Katie

  17. I have started on the second book and I can't put it down. I really like them. I see you live in Gods country, lucky you. I am getting ready to move to Delaware from Missouri, this will be fun....do I want to live on the beach or near Philly.....I think the beach......A whole new area to find Quilt shops. But will be hard to leave all these midwest shops. Going to Pons and Porters before I leave and I will be happy.....so many to see before I leave. Ha Ha..... So glad to have found you.....I see Yogi is as spoiled as my Nesbitt......Love these dogs....

  18. Just read the first book and am honestly disturbed that it was intended for 12 year olds. What a horrible thought - children killing children. Can't imagine wanting to see the movie although my daughter did. She felt they left out a couple of critical things from the book. Movies rarely live up to the book. I realize I'm out of step with the majority, but really don't need to feed myself with such disturbing plots.
