candy and check it all out?

DSCN1925

Did you get 2 pieces of candy every day in your

  1. When I was little, my grandmother made me a witch dress, complete with separate collar and a cape embroidered with spiders and bats. I played dressup in that thing for years!

  2. Well Polly your house looks spootacular. All the questions you asked went for my children. My daughter is probably around your age and I did all the things you mentioned. The year I remember most was when Nicole went as a pumpkin she was so
cute. We made most of our costumes out of things at home. I don't remember buying any , we just used our imagination. One year we had an adult party and that was such fun. I miss those years. Blessings Sandra

Here in Aussie we did not celebrate Halloween at all when I was a child but over the past twenty or so years it has been growing in popularitty here.
My DD2 and children love to celebrate it.
I really feel I have missed out after seeing your home.
    Have LOTS of fun Polly.
Oh yes like you I would eat the sweets if they were in my house too early. LOL

  11. It's always a treat to see all of your great decorations. Living in Northern Canada as a child we often had to wear our snowsuits under our costumes and trudge through snow from house to house.

  12. Love all your decorations-autumn is my favorite season. My favorite costume was when I dressed up like a hobo in denim overalls, one of my dad's shirt, tied a bandana on a stick and scruffed up my face with a little charcoal. It was so fun.

  13. Sadly we didn't celebrate Halloween in NZ when I was a child, but I do recall my Dad making a 'turnip lantern'. Your decorations are delightful!

  14. It's been lovely seeing all those preparations for Halloween. It's not celebrated as much here in Australia although I always have some sweets as occasionally children do go 'trick or treating' :-) When DH and I were in the US in Mar/April this year we noticed some houses with decorated front porches or yard for Easter...that was nice and not something we see in Aus either :-)

  15. Since I'm from a really, really small town, we could go to almost every house for Trick or Treat! I was very good about making my candy last at least until Thanksgiving or longer. My best memory is the year my Aunt and Uncle grew a giant pumpkin. They carved it into a Jack-o-Lantern, and somehow he put it on the hood of their car. We drove all over town with a giant, glowing Jack on our car!
