Not One Whit!

That’s what I named this month’s “Schnibble” quilt.

IMG_3624

It is one of Carrie’s “Little Bite” patterns which is made with the smaller 2 1/2” mini charms.

IMG_3606

So, even though it is made of 128 flying geese units, it finishes up at a whopping 22’'” square.

IMG_3615

I do like the design allot and as usual, Carrie’s directions are spot-on and easy to follow.

IMG_3602

But, it just seems like such allot of work for such a tiny project.

IMG_3625

I really do like the larger sized quilts from the regular Schnibbles patterns better.

IMG_3622

My quilt was made with the Moda Avalon collection from Fig Tree Quilts, but the backing is from their newer collection “Honeysweet”.

So, what are you working on this fine fall week?

Guess what I’m working on?

Here’s a hint…

IMG_3577

I’ve been trimming…and trimming and trimming flying geese down to 1 1/2” by 2 1/2” in size.

IMG_3579

Yep, I’m working on a Little Bite called Whit.

IMG_3564

I’m making it out of two mini-charm packs from the Moda Avalon collection from Fig Tree.

IMG_3582

Yep, been trimming all 128 little flying geese.

IMG_3581

Really prefer to make regular Schnibbles with regular charm packs instead of Little Bites with mini-charms.

IMG_3587

It is just such allot of work for such a tiny outcome.  The version of Whit that I’m making will be just 22” square… sigh…

IMG_3583

Yogi’s been hanging out in the sewing room with me, as usual… supervising… LOL!!

So, what did you do this weekend?

Going Postal…

Well, not anymore, that is!!

IMG_3556

My Halloween postage stamp quilt is finally done!!

IMG_3557

I named it “Wicked Bits”!! Woo hoo!

IMG_3555

I think this type of quilt with zillions of tiny pieces (1,443 to be exact), is perfect to make as a leader/ender project.

IMG_3539

Bonnie Hunter’s term for having a stack of little precut squares by your machine at all times and using two of them right sides together in between piecing parts of your current project.

IMG_3558

I have always called the little scrap pieces of fabric I used between piecing “tweeners” and they were just thrown away when they were covered in thread…but Bonnie calls them Leaders and Enders and has written two books about them!!

IMG_3559

I am thrilled that I finished this quilt!!  Can’t wait to put it our next month!!  YAY!

IMG_3561

It was a great way to use up all those old tiny Halloween scraps!!

IMG_3551

Today, I’ve got to start making this month’s Schnibble!!

Catch- Up…

I am still plodding along on my Halloween postage stamp quilt. I do love all the fabrics I am using… they represent years and years of collecting.  Some from dolls I made or decor items or quilts…  such fun memories!!

IMG_3516

I actually added a design element to all the tiny pieces which I think will look great when it’s quilted and embellished afterwards…

IMG_3524

I had 2 lovely family visitors from out of town for the weekend, so did not get any sewing done until this afternoon after they left.

IMG_3506

I had bee last week and made my dear beemates  little hedgehog pin cushions that I found a tut for on Pinterest HERE!!

IMG_3508

Very fun to make and they turned out so cute and pleasing to all!!

IMG_3509

I also forgot to post that a few weeks ago, my dear bee friends and I went to a lecture/trunk show by Alex Anderson.

IMG_3462

I have always wanted to meet her, as she taught me how to quilt… well, her “Simply Quilts” TV show did.

IMG_3457

How many of you feel the same way about her?

IMG_3460

She was quite fun and down-to-earth…seemed like a girl next door!!  It was fun too see her quilts, too!!

IMG_3449

I’ve got bee tomorrow here at my house.  Yay!!

IMG_3372

What are you up to this week?

Who Talked Me Into This???

I LOVE autumn and especially Halloween. Below was Halloween in my old home!!

DSCN1932

So, I have made LOTS of Halloween dolls and decor and quilts over the years…

DSCN1917

so I have LOTS of Halloween fabric scraps!!

IMG_3444

I fell in love with Kelly’s postage stamp quilt on her blog, Charming Chatter, and decided to use up those scraps to make a Halloween postage stamp quilt.

IMG_3442

I completely emptied that bin of smaller scraps and used some of the many Halloween fat quarters I’ve collected to cut lots and lots

postage stamp 1

and lots of 2” squares.

postage stamp 3

And I’m sewing the squares into 16 patch blocks which will finish at 6”.  I’ve got about 30 sewn up so far…

IMG_3485

This will take  F O R E V E R!!!

IMG_3487

But it will be an awesome quilt, I think!!

IMG_3486

So, what are you up to these days????
