Our New Best Friend

We bought this new coffee brewer for my son Anthony for Christmas... for his first apartment of his own at Virginia Tech. We opened it and set it up on the kitchen counter on Christmas morning and we all had to have a cuppa from it! (We have one at my office, but my husband and sons have never used one before then.)
Well, we've already gone through the first batch of K-cups that came with it, and have bought more. Soooooooooooooooooooo...
I bought another one today and will give Anthony the new one in the box and we will keep this one! YAY! :-) What a great Christmas this has been!! :-)

Are You Ready?

Well, are you???? Ready for tomorrow? For Christmas? What's still left on your list of things to do? I've got quite a few things still left to do on my list! I did the last grocery shop yesterday...and boy was the store a ZOO!! But it was still better, I'm sure, than today will be there at the grocery store!
Today, is cooking day! I'm making meatballs, sausages, and stuffed shells for tomorrow's Christmas dinner. I'm also making a dish of breakfast strata which I'll put in the oven tomorrow morning when we first wake up and it will bake as we open presents! YUM!
I've also got some desserts to bake and fudge to make. Plus presents and stocking stuffers to wrap. We always go to the 7:30 pm Mass on Christmas Eve, so that's on our plate for tonight, too. So, it will be a long day! Got to get off the computer and get busy!
As most of today's work will be in the kitchen, I thought you might like to see Miss Ginger who graces my kitchen island! She and I will be sharing the kitchen today!

I'm sure we will all be rather busy tomorrow celebrating Christmas with our family and friends. Thank you so much, for reading my blog! It means so very much to me! I hope you and your family have a beautiful and fun-filled day and a most memorable and Merry Christmas!

20" and Still Snowing!

OK, well we sure will have a white Christmas around here this year!! We've got over 20" since last night and it's still snowing!!

We spent a couple of hours digging ourselves out a bit this afternoon. Thank goodness we bought a snow blower when our 2 boys left for college! No more slave labor! ;-)

We only cleared half of the driveway...
right down the middle only!

And we put out some salt, too. But I just looked
out front and it's covered with snow again!

At least our 2 cars are not buried in the snow

like our neighbors' cars are!

We have to keep clearing a little patch for Yogi to potty on! They say it should slow down soon! With this much snow, I seriously doubt we'll be in school next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday!

I sure am hoping for even more quiltin' time!! :-)
I got some pork chops in the oven and merlot in the goblets
and the fireplace cracklin'!
Hope you are somewhere safe and warm!!

Snowwwwwwww!

Well, the snow started last night around 9:30pm and hasn't let up at all. They say we should get about 1.5 " per hour today until around 4pm. We've got about 10" already. It's so quiet and still outside.

Poor hubby had to go out first thing after we woke up and shovel a potty spot for Yogi. We've been up 2 hours now and the spot is already covered up with more snow! The street is so picturesque and pristine.

Well, hubby and son are playing each other in Call of Duty on PlayStation 3 online as I check email and post this. Now I'm going up to the sewing room to work on my other son's T-Shirt quilt! Would be great to get the whole top done today and get it ready to quilt!

I hope you have a good day and find some time for sewing! :-)
Stay warm!

Christmas Quilts

I thought you might like to see the quilts in the Christmas decor photos. This is the one I just finished this weekend. It's from the "It's A Wrap" pattern. I named it "Gifts Galore"... made with a jelly roll.

But this one is my fav by far! I made the top at a quilt guild retreat about 3 years ago. I love the mustaches best!! It's from one of Nancy Halvorsen's Art to Heart books.

However, this flannel shaggy quilt is probably the most fought over by my family. It is super big and warm. It's folded down to a quarter of it's full size in this photo.

This one I designed myself and taught at our local shop last year. It, too, is made from a jelly roll and extra-wide rickrack... which is why I named it "Ribbon Candy". I love adding some lime and pink colors into the normal Christmas mix.

This one is the oldest of them all. A more traditional quilt pattern for sure, using very traditional colors. I made this pattern for each of my sisters and parents once year as Christmas presents.

What's your most favorite Christmas quilt you've made?

"Marry Christmas!"

My younger son, Anthony, made this for me back in 1996 for Christmas. He was 10 years old. I absolutely LOVE taking this out every year and putting it on my fridge for Christmas. He used markers and glue and scraps from my sewing room. I especially love the way he mis-spelled merry and that's the icing on the cake!!
