I just love the little santa on your wallpaper it just makes me smile! Hmmm my i'm pretty new to quilting so my Favorite tip would be to measure twice and cut once..lol I am a follower
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Favorite tip: measure three times! Unfortunately, I know this from experience! Thanks for a chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower and a brand new quilter...Just finishing my 2nd quilt now. My favorite tip is to check quilting blogs for help if I don't know something! That's how I found your blog. :) I would love to win that book, my first quilt was a baby quilt and my second is using the same pattern...lol...need some patterns/new ideas!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and I would have to say that the rotary cutter is my favorite tool - right up there with that ever present seam ripper!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tip is to sort threads by color and put in 1 quart zip lock bag. Put them all in plastic tote and you can pick up a small bag and many times see if you have the right color and not even open the zip. I am a follower. Hugs
ReplyDeleteMy favourite tip is to always measure twice before cutting. I'm a follower. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI happily follow your blog:) My favorite new quilting notion is the Fixion gel pen by Pilot. I use it to mark half square triangles.
ReplyDeleteWent to Barnes and Noble today. Looked at the magazine featuring your sewing room. Awesome!!!!
Hi Polly you are one of my favorite blogs that I follow. I just got an G Accuquilter I haven't had much time to play with it yet but I think I am really going to like that. Love that Christmas panel. Blessings Sandra
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway Polly!~ I knew you couldn't part with Yogi the doll. ;-) I love the panel of Santa!
ReplyDeleteI'm a longtime happy follower. My favorite notion is my new 'lighted' seam ripper. LOL :-)
Darn, no Yogi.. well, I'll try anyhow. I am a follower, and my favorite notion is my Fiskars scissors sharpener. I just recently found it, and think it is awesome, I love my scissors SHARP.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a follower and my favorite notion is my needle threader. These old eyes can't do it alone any more. :( blessings, marlene
ReplyDeletei'm one of your followers :) and my fave tool is my needle threader!
ReplyDeleteOoo I love that panel! Im a follower! I love my little seam ripper!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower and my tip would be to use Carol Doakes' paper for paper piecing. It is the easiest paper to remove after the fabric is sewn on.
ReplyDeleteYep...I'm a happy follower and Yogi lover. I don't know a favorite quilting tip but I'll tell you right now, back basting applique was a revelation to me. For those that don't know what it is, it's worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower and I now use small bull dog clips to hold my binding down ready for hand sewing as I couldn't get the clips everyone else is using.
ReplyDeleteAm a new follower and I love my rotary cutter
ReplyDeleteI finally bought some quilter gloves and I have to say, they are my favorite tool. They make moving a quilt around soooooo much easier. I am a follower.
ReplyDeletePolly,
ReplyDeleteI am for sure one of your followers. My best quilting tip- have fun with the creative process- One can never have too many scraps or make too many quilts.
Best wishes for the holiday season.
Warmest regards,
Anna
I'm a follower, and I love my cut rite bind up tool.
ReplyDeleteI follow!
ReplyDeleteI love the Rotary Cutter :D
Thanks for the chance!
Wonderful giveaways Polly! I am a follower, and my favourite notions are my Add-a-1/4" and Add-an-1/8" rulers I use when I do my foundation paper pieced blocks! Thanks for a chance to win!!!
ReplyDeleteWe all have little tips that we don't actually
ReplyDeletethink about. We just do them. When my needle gets dull I stick it in a little sand bag to sharpen it. My iron gets a good rub in the dirt sometimes to clean the bottom, Grandma used to do this.
I am a follower.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I am following your blog. Are you SURE I can't win that adorable Yogi? He'd look stunning with my 2 big black dogs: high contrast value there. Big, little, black, white. My best tip: put the ruler line ON the fabric not BESIDE the fabric edge. And I love my Purple Thang, for keeping the seams flat and in the right direction when going under the needle, and getting a perfect 1/4" seam in the process. It must amuse the inventor of the Purple Thang no end that every quilter who owns one must speak Texan when discussing it.
ReplyDeleteJust joined your blog...don't enter me in the giveaway as my blog is also part of the giveaway and not sure we are allowed to enter one another's blogs!! ?But so thrilled to find your lovely interesting blog and will look forward to your posts...the tips are interesting and wish I had listened to my friends tip of washing all pieces before starting on a little hand stitched quilt...well am turning it into a wall hanging...as a test piece after I had sewn showed the different fabrics shrank at different rates...just pleased it wasn't a huge piece...am new to this as you may gather...but loving it! Warm wishes from south africa
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower! I love my 1x6 ruler - it's so handy to double check a quick measurement while I'm at the machine or ironing table. Thanks for the giveaway - sure wish I could win Yogi! He is the cutest dog ever!

ReplyDeleteHello Ms. Polly!
ReplyDeleteI've been an avid follower for awhile and love the inspiration I get from your blog!
My quilt tip is one I saw recently about using Glad Press N Seal. You trace your design on the press and seal and then (using your hands) press the design onto your quilt. You can hand or machine quilt through and remove it easily. Brilliant!
Thank you for entering me in your generous giveaway! That panel is adorable!
(Google Account does not seem to be working today so I am posting this as anon):-)

I was hoping for Yogi, but would settle for the book & fabric;).My favorite notion is my ergonomic rotary cutter-I have 2-a Martelli one & the Grace Company one. They have been lifesavers in regard to cutting fatigue. I highly recommend both to everyone, esp. if you have wrist and/or hand issues.
ReplyDeleteA follower via email. My fav notion is a wooden skewer, which I use to steer and manipulate fabric as it approaches the presser foot. Handy as can be!
ReplyDeletesign up for your newsletter...check
ReplyDeletefavorite notion..Gypsy Gripper..and the AccuQuilt Go...can't live without either one....check
quilting tip(covering all bases)....I use clear storage boxes for my projects. If I am collecting fabrics for a project it gives me a place to put them until I'm ready to start, along with the pattern. I also leave my UFO's in the box so everything is kept together
I am a follower through GFC. :)
ReplyDeletea light spray of starch before cutting any shapes on the bias, helps to prevent the fabric from stretching. :)

ReplyDeleteI am already a follower of your blog Polly. Darn! I was hoping for that adorable puppy of yours.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quilting notion is my ceramic marking pencil. I have tried almost any brand of marking pencil and for one reason or another have not had good luck with them. They've either not worked well or they've dried out, or *gasp* not gone away when I wanted them to. I LOVE this ceramic pencil and the fact that I can get different colored 'leads' to use so it's visible on almost any fabric I might be using. And the best part is the perfect thin straight line I get from using it too.
I follow you via the quilterblogs.com RSS feed! That quilting book looks really cool.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quilting tip... have fun! I'm new so I don't really have any sage advice, but I am learning to really enjoy the process. That's what it's all about, right? ;)

I am a follower and my tip would be to relax and enjoy the whole process of quilting from beginning to end. Thankyou and Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower :) I am also fairly new to quilting. I don't have a tip of my own, but a friend did tell me "don't stress when things don't line up exactly right, the more a quilt the better your pieces will get" so for now my blocks are a tad bit wonky, but hopefully I will get better at them :)
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower. I'm rather new to quilting so I don't have tips of my own, but I have found that the more you read other people's tips and blogs, the more you learn.

ReplyDeleteI became a follower. My favorite quilting tool Hummmmm....there are so many things I could never do without...but I really LOVE the Pilot FriXion pens for marking my quilt designs...if I mess up or change my mind, the ink disappears like magic by using a hot iron. Anyone that doesn't have one MUST get one!

ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower...love your site...my "Little Twister" is my current favorite tool....so much fabric...so little time...Merry Christmas.

ReplyDeleteI am a follower and I know you would never give Yogi away, but I'd be first in line if you did. My favorite tip is boring but true, press as you go, it makes life so much easier. Thanks.

ReplyDeletenew follower~nice blog you have! My tip is to make time to sew daily....even if It's only for an hr. a day. Great stress reliever.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower. :) My quilting tip is: don't aim for perfection. None of us can achieve perfection (except Jesus) so why do we beat ourselves up about the fact our triangle points don't quite meet up?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI love the prizes you are giving away. I am a follower. My tip is to always label your quilt.
ReplyDeleteNancy R.
My notion is a seam ripper I can't sew anything that I don't have to rip out. My tip is to put a lable on all your quilts. Thank you for the great giveaway
ReplyDeleteNew follower on GFC, The Sleepy Dreamer
ReplyDeleteFavorite Notion is Rotary Tool you can not start without it. I love your sewing room it's so organized and has a lot of space for everything.
lnb1191(at)aol(dot)com
Hi Polly! I'm a follower and my tip is to make test strips to verify that your 1/4" seams are truly 1/4". It is so easy to go over or under and that will really mess you up! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBarbara
I'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to find your blog.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Yogi! I have a Willie just like him/her. Sweet as can be. He's a cuddler and loves to sit in my lap for a massage.
Oh what a nice book - quick and easy Romantic quilts. PRETTY heart - I'd LOVE to make one of those. It is on my list.
Does your Yogi "sing" to you? Whenever my Willie has a visitor - he goes to his bed full of toys - gets one in his mouth - and says - auuugghhhrrrrr - he prances around with that toy in his mouth and teases his visitor with it. We love our baby and his brother :) Bratley.
Thank you for the chance to win.
OOPS _ almost forgot to tell you about my favorite ... I have a ruler with a rotary cutter attached to it. It takes some getting used to - but I really like it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I am a follow'n.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tip is 'just do it' don't be afraid to try (learn) something new. I see things on blogs I just have to try and surprise myself on how well I stretch myself.
My favorite notion is my rotary cutter, OF COURSE!
I'm already a follower. My favorite quilting tip is, measure twice cut once. ;->
ReplyDeleteHi, I am a new follower. My tip is cut everything out before you start stitching.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower and I can't imagine being without my rotary cutter. My mother taught me to retract the blade EVERY SINGLE TIME I put it down and I'm sure that has been a very helpful habit.
ReplyDeleteI am now a follower. My favourite quilting tool is my desk Ott light - just can't do a good job unless I can see really well. Your giveaway looks great!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to all.
I'm a follower, and as I was scrolling down to leave a comment I saw the picture of your quilt room. WOW. I'm so jealous!! My quilt room is in the garage! in Wyoming! an unheated garage at that! Anyway, back to the task at hand. I absolutely must have a super sharp pair of scissors by my machine (a small pair) and a larger one for cutting fabric.
ReplyDeleteI Need to measure three or four times!Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI am a follower and my tip is that I use those cling vinyl decals (like the ones put on your windshield after an oil change) to place on my rulers at a measurement that I'm going to use a lot, as it's easier to eyeball each time if there is a marker there. I've also used a large rectangular strip cling to mark 1/4 inch on my machine. Thank you for this fun question. I always love to read others' tips!
ReplyDelete
