H. O. L. Y. C. O. W. !!
Where did all this fabric come from and who bought it all???
I must pat myself on the back, because NO ONE ELSE could have fit all that sh… stuff in such a tiny room.
But, after many hours and days, it is finalllllly all packed up!
It looks so ugly and sad….
It was such a great little sewing room!!
The only thing left in the stash closet, is the fabric I’m donating to the guild!
These totes are going to the new apartment. They hold precuts and kits and thread and other supplies…
It REALLLY was a wonderful sewing room for the last 15 years!!
Yuo are my idol! I thought my room was small and packed until I found your blog! Good luck with the move. I know Yogi will miss his spot.
ReplyDeleteI bet you found things you'd forgotten about! What a job it must have been packing it all up. Good luck with the move.
ReplyDeleteNice to have the packing all done. I'm right there with ya on being able to stuff lots of stuff in a small room, I can jam things away like nobody's business, lol. It's bittersweet leaving your cute little sewing room but like you said it's been a wonderful 15 years. Onto new places and the fun of fixing up a new sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI am so not looking forward to the day I will have to pack up all my sewing stuff. I know that eventually we have to move to a smaller house. Sure hope I use up a ton of fabric before that happens. Good luck with your move.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. We moved last year and it is so amazing to see all the boxes! We had movers, and the guy in my sewing room took as much time as the other guy did in the kitchen, and most movers consider the kitchen to be the "big job." I can't beleive you did it all yourself!
ReplyDeleteI can only assume that you will have a bigger, better room in your new house. We will be looking forward to seeing you. Linda
ReplyDeleteOops, I meant to write we will be looking forward to seeing the room. Linda
ReplyDeleteAlways sad to leave a place where you have been happy but I'm sure your new sewing room will be great.
ReplyDeleteOh Polly it looks so sad. I loved your little room! Good luck with the move!

Give Yogi a hug
OMG What a BIG job and you did it all yourself... Hope you packed everything you will need it the apartment as you don't want to buy anymore STUFF...
ReplyDeleteYou have sewed sew many happy memories in your special room. I am sure you will have fun setting up the new one and Yogi will have his favorite spot near a window again.
Are you having a little bit of separation anxiety now that it is all packed up? I know with mine, the more I pack the more I start missing it. I am purposely packing a tote with stuff I can easily get to and work on to keep myself sane until our move is over. And the reason I'm doing this? My husband has informed me that we may have to live in our fifth wheel for up to a month if we don't find the right house soon...ugh.
ReplyDeleteYou make me want to cry. I've done the same thing but now I will have a bigger sewing room and sew will you! Good luck in your new adventure.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow is right, Polly! You've brought back memories of when I had to pack up my sewing room a short two years ago when we moved to Nova Scotia. You just never realize how much stuff you have until you have to pack it.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't envy fot you is that you'll have to do it again in July! Yikes! Try not to buy too much between now and then...famous last words. *wink*
You definitely made the most of your space. Now it's onward and upward! Will be wonderful to see your new sewing room. Bet it will be just as wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the "last look" with Yogi in the window and I can't wait to see what you're moving in to, hopefully a little more space :)
ReplyDeleteAh, Polly, I'll lay odds you found some "magic" in that room as you were packing it up. Just remember - good times are in store down the road for you setting up a beautiful new sewing room for you and Yogi.
ReplyDeleteStay warm this weekend. God bless you Dear Friend.
I have a small sewing room too and pretty proud of using space wisely as well. I hope your new forever home, when you get there, has a window for Yogi by your sewing table. I have a feeling between now and your next move that you won't be stashing much.
ReplyDeleteFocus on your brand new craft room - that will be so exciting.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Just think of the new sewing space, and you get to create a wonderful place to put it into. It is so much fun to make a special sewing space for ourselves. I love my space. I just never seem to get so spend enough time in it. Can we make 26 hour days???
ReplyDeleteIt really was a great sewing space. I remember seeing it featured on a few sewing space blog features. Deep breaths, allow yourself no guilt over all the beautiful fabric purchased! That's what I have to do when I clean out the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteMany happy memories, I'm sure! I hope for you a spectacular sewing room in the new house! Bet I could have fit all of that sh...I mean stuff...in there too - LOL! o:)
ReplyDeleteYou will have so much fun unpacking and sorting!
ReplyDeleteOh boy are you going to have a great time when you move rediscovering all the sutff you forgot you bought. I know you have just packed it away so maybe you've seen it all but it's really gonna be fun and I hope your move isn't too stressful.
ReplyDeleteI love that you included the before picture and it was a wonderful little room. I unpacked more fabric tubs this week and repacked some right back out to the garage. lol - I have been back sewing for two weeks and ended up rearranging the room yet again, getting rid of more stuff. You will have fun unpacking all your treasures, but I guarantee you will not remember where you rearrange them to. Just happens that way.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself during the move so you don't strain your back. I did that the day the movers came and wasn't any good for two weeks. Judy C in NC
I know the pain very, very well. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWell done Polly- you have been busy and look at that nice stash of stuff for your guild too. It does look like it was a fabulous space that you had decorated so cute. I am sure your new space will be wonderful too.
ReplyDeleteMoving day will soon be here- hang in there!
Regards,
Anna
omg reading this post it made me well up (tears)I feel so sad for you I know how hard it is to move on from your safe and comfy place but I know you will make the next sewing room even better good luck with the next chapter of your life ttfn Nicole(UK)
ReplyDeleteI moved my sewing room too this weekend.i didn't move house, just swapped bedroom and study/sewing room around! Doesn't sound bad right? But it took us two days and half a day planning and buying a new desk chair, putting up new blinds.... And so much more! The thing was that every single cabinet had to be taken appart before I could move it to the other room. Large furniture is great for storing, not so great when moving. Even when it is in your own house! But i love the results! I hope you love your new room too!

Hi Polly,
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be so much fun sewing for your new house! Just remember don't fight with Mr. Polly to much about details.
Give that Yogi boy a hug

It is so funny, when we sold our home in PA to downsize to FL we had a house sale...my husband could not believe I had so much fabric...even the realtor said to me "I don't know where you had all of this stuff hidden since I never saw it"...I think I shocked myself seeing all of this stuff....I couldn't bring all of that fabric with me so I donated 10 large green trash bags full of quilting material to an organization that makes quilts for kids in the hospital...it went to a wonderful cause....but I can relate to you packing up your sewing room. My sewing room now is part of our second BD...small, but I still managed to put most of it in there...I told my husband I would only buy fabric if I was going to make something...no buying stash....I will see how long that will last....LOL....my best to you in your new home and Molly says Hello to Yogi....
ReplyDeleteWow! You have a good skill in packing. Packing is such a daunting task. But it seems like you had fun doing it. And it’s like it was just pretty easy for you. Kudos to you!

That’s a big pile of boxes. And those are all fabrics? Wow. Well, kudos for packing all that, and I hope you’ve had help in moving those in your new apartment. That must’ve taken you a few trips to get all of those into your new place. How’s the new sewing room, btw?
