Blue January

My dear Daddy passed away on New Years Eve morning.  He had been in Hospice for a month or so with abdominal cancer.  He had his 96th birthday in November.  He was retired Air Force.  One of the Greatest Generation.

He was a strong willed quiet man with twinkling blue eyes and a big sweet heart. His mind was clear and strong but his body just wore out.

My Mother just celebrated her 94th birthday and they would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day.  We are all missing him.

Our grandson Neal is named after him! Big shoes to fill!

He love our little Yogi and Yogi loved him, too!

  7. OH Polly, I am so sad. I know this is hard, a new life for all of us without dad.
Well, my sweet mom died last October, that was so hard, Then my adorable Pierro kitty died in November, that was just devastating given my already torn heart.
I will keep praying for all of you

  9. No matter how many years they are with us, it's still tragic when they leave and my heart goes out to you and your family. My own dad passed away almost 4 years ago, at the age of 104 and I think of him every day.

  10. Deepest sympathy to you and your whole family. Even when it is expected, it still hits us just as hard. I lost my own Dad the year after I married and I still miss him terribly and think of him every day.

  11. Polly, losing a parent is so hard and the only hopeful thing I can offer is that I still talk with my mom and dad, both certainly in heaven, every day. Know we are all thinking about you and wish you peace.
