First Real Fallish Day!

Today when we woke up, it was freezing
in the house!  We've not been cold enough
yet this fall to have the heat on...
but this morning it was sure cold!!

So, what do you do when it gets
cold in the fall????

You grab some ground beef out
of the freezer, brown it in a skillet
with some garlic and chopped onion.

Then you toss it in the crockpot with a can
of tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes with
green chilies, kidney beans and black beans.

Add some spices and voila!!!
Chili!!  Yum!

While it bubbled away in the kitchen,
Yogi and I hit the sewing room

and started working on a new quilt!
An orange quilt!
More to come!!

We are holding out on turning on the heat also. It was warmer outside than in our house yesterday! I hate to give in to the cold but the time is coming soon!

  7. Just love the photo of Yogi sitting in his bed on the sewing table. My Rusty won't stay in my sewing room. He watches me from the hall. Chili sounds perfect. Looking forward to seeing your orange quilt.

  8. Don't you just love chile season? I just made a big pot of beef barley soup, and now I'm thinking about cornbread to go with it. Have fun with your orange quilt - will be waiting to see the results.

  10. I think the crockpot is one of the best things that happened to quilting-- it cooks and you and you go sew - LOL - Can't wait to see the orange quilt. Hope your weekend was productive!

  12. Mmm, that looks so good. I can eat chili any time of the year. I'm going to try to do your recipe this week, what spices do you put in? Chili powder, cumin, anything else you would recommend? Thanks for sharing, Linda
