This cold weather is unreal!!
We figured moving out west toward the mountains would make for a bit more snow and cold weather… but this is waaaay beyond that!!
We’ve had snow three times already and that’s two times more than we’ve had the last few winters back in Clifton!!
My first sewing project of 2014 was not a quilt, but a new pair of pajamas!! Soooo needed!!
But today I finished my second project of 2014 and it WAS a quilt-
a new wall quilt for over the mantle!!
Again, I wanted something simple and more modern with a winter theme as it will stay up there until spring!!
I named it “Winter Sentinel”. I do like it…but am considering adding a few snowflakes to it.
What do you think?
that red bird is just perfect, but a few snowflakes will be a great reminder of your first winter in the new house.
ReplyDeleteI agree it is really pretty and some snowflakes would be great!!
ReplyDeleteEveryone has the same comment about how cold it is out. We had rain yesterday that made for a lot of ice. Tonight is really cold. I don't like this winter at all. We have been spoiled that last two years. I love the wall hanging. I had use a similar pattern for a quilt. I like your version.Nice job.
ReplyDeleteWe see on the news how cold it is in your part of the world.. I have just returned from my morning dip..
ReplyDeleteLove the wall hanging as is, no snowflakes. The Red Cardial looks great.
Keep warm my friend.
Your wall hanging is lovely and the cardinal is great. Hope it warms up soon.
ReplyDeleteThe wall hanging is wonderful! Love the cardinal; a splash of red!
ReplyDeleteKeep warm!! Your weather is sooo cold; we are reading about it in Australia.
I think snowflakes would be wonderful although by the end of winter you may not want to be reminded, LOL. We are even cold here in Florida although nothing like what everyone else is going through.
ReplyDeleteI really love the simplicity of the wall hanging as is - the cardinal is ALL you need. Snowflakes sitting on the mantel would work - just until it stops snowing. We could all take lessons from Yogi - he sure knows how to take care of himself. Judy C in NC where it is 25 degrees, but no snow.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the mantle quilt. It does speak "winter" and the cardinal in it is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love it! What is the size and where's the pattern?
ReplyDeleteSnowflakes will be perfect.
Sara shared my thoughts exactly! I love all of your mantle quilts!
ReplyDeleteI think Yogi is so adorable ….I want to clone him….and , yes , I think a few snowflakes would enhance the beauty of your quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt looks very cold...love your new wall hanging...
ReplyDeleteI *adore* the new wall hanging!
ReplyDeleteI have loved that pattern ever since I first saw it and everytime I run across it again, I think "oh, I really need to make this" but so far that hasn't happened. Snowflakes would be cute! And PLEASE keep the cold where you are! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love reading and seeing all the neat sewing projects you achieve. I love the new mantel quilt. I love cardinals, you did a prefect quilt for this time of the year. Where do you get your ideas for your mantel quilts.
ReplyDeleteLove your new wall quilt-sitting here staring at an empty space , I may just make myself one!
ReplyDeleteAnd Yogi is adorable!!!!!
Everything looks amazing and beautiful. Yogi is so adorable. Polly while you have snow, we are heading for a day tomorrow of 110 degrees Fahrenheit!
ReplyDeleteI was just complaining yesterday about needing more pajamas - I'll do like you and just make me some! blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteI LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your quilt above the mantle! The cardinal is perfect. I have a view of bare trees & cardinals right outside my dining room. We have over a foot of snow with drifts over 4 feet. It's raining today with temps right around 38F, but the high on Monday was -13F with -50F windchill. Yogi looks so comfy relaxing on the sofa!
ReplyDeletePolly your new Wall quilt is lovely and very modern and strikeing where it is.Perfect on the mantle with the little red cardinal. It looks very cold we have been seeing it there on the television. Here we are haveing fires and a heatwave , 43C plus.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel piece is perfect! It looks like snuggling is the right option for that kind of weather! Yogi seems to think so!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely mantel decoration! I'll swap your freeze for our South Australian heat wave any day! On Thursday Adelaide was the hottest city on earth with 46*C. We had four days in a row over 40, which is 104F. It broke tonight with a nice thunderstorm. Thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteYour house is beautiful and nicely decorated! The mantle quilt is perfect !
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year...
