Today is Worldwide Quilting day!! Time to celebrate our art!
I hope you can set aside some time to do a bit of quilting or sewing…
even fondling a bit of your stash would count!!
Or even some fabric retail therapy!! Yay!!
I normally don’t get much sewing done now over the weekends as when everyone is home, I prefer to do things with them rather than be in my sewing room all day.
However, my peeps are all out and about today, so as soon as I get this written and posted, I can get back to my latest project!! Curious?
Well, when we moved into this house last August, I hung my poppies quilt up over the fireplace mantle, and it was a perfect fit for the space!
So, I’ve been making other quilts exactly that sixe, to hang there as the seasons of the year progress…
a fall one-
a Christmas one-
a winter one-
and now I’m working on a spring one!!
I’ve got the blocks made and sewn onto the background…the flower pots made and fused on…
and Thursday and Friday I selected the flower and plant fabrics from my stash..
got them laid out on the pots…
and finally fused on!
Now I’m quilting it as I stitch around the petals, stems and leaves.
I’ve finished quilting the moss roses, the tulips and the berry grass pots! And am quilting the pots and background areas equally densely!
I’ve added some ladybugs, a snail and a frog!
Stay tuned!! More pix to come!
I love your fireplace quilts!

DeleteLove all of your fireplace quilts but especially like your latest one for Spring. I love seeing Yogi as well....he reminds me so much of my little guy, Riley that I had to put down just over a year ago. He was 15 years old and I still miss him. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry you lost your fur baby! I can not imagine our life without Yogi...sigh... and Yogi is getting up there. He is 13 now...
DeleteI'm in love! The spring quilt is wonderful and I'm sure you'll love being able to gaze at that every day. Yogi is such a great supervisor. I agree, when my family is around, I spend time with them instead of being in my sewing room. Still no signs of spring here, although the sun is warmer and some of the snow piles are shrinking.

ReplyDeletePolly, this is, by far, my favorite one of your seasonal wall quilts. It's filled with happy pots, overflowing with bright and colorful blooms. Will you, by any chance, be making patterns for them any time soon? I think we are all suffering from cabin fever and looking forward to Old Man Winter blowing out of town!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely!! Very spring-like, which we could use here! The melting dirty snow is showing brown grass and empty trees.....can't wait for some green!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts - all of them! I love the colourful poppies and the latest quilt with pots of spring flowers. What a great idea to hang quilts above the fireplace and change them with the seasons. It must feel like a new home every time you change the display!
ReplyDeleteWow...I have no words...looks all so fantastic. So much inspiration on your blog. I`m glad I find you.
