I love that we had the choice this month to make the Schnibble small sized using 2 charm packs or big sized using 2 layer cakes!!
And I loved Carrie’s name so much, that I named mine the same - “X-Rated”!!
And what’s even more appropo is that I used two layer cakes of Moda “Bliss” that I won a while back from Carrie herself in a Schnibble drawing!!
This quilt was super easy to cut and sew together, but I did have a problem…
because it is laid out in rows on a design wall, then sewn one row at a time, I had no design wall or empty floor space big enough to lay it out on…
so, I had to divide the pile of pieces into four stacks, and lay out only one quarter of the quilt at a time, then sew that quarter together, then lay out another quarter, sew it together, then join it to the first quarter. It was a pain to do, but so worth it! I do sooooo love this quilt!!
I realllllly need a bigger design wall, or even a big empty floor space!!
But I was able to lay it out on my kitchen island to pin baste the sandwich… so much easier on my back and knees than on the floor!!
So, what are you sewing on this week?
Love your quilt and colors. I also need/want a bigger design wall.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Polly and the Bliss is perfect. I use my bed for a design wall, lots of walking back and forth to the machine.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt Polly. I have almost finished filling a box for my brother's wife and two of their daughters. I'm sending them two quilts and three pumpkins for three new babies in the fam to have for Halloween goodies when they get older. I also have two BOMs that I've been working on. One of them is Elle's Kitchen which has been offered by a local quilt shop. We will finish up in June. I'm a little behind on that one but plan to not drag it out too long and hopefully have it done (as in quilted and bound) by the end of the summer.
ReplyDeleteI think we all need a bigger design wall????? just love your X Rated quilt....
ReplyDeleteI did that same quilt a few months ago in 30s prints. It turned out SO cute! I ran out of design wall too and ended up taping blocks onto the wall with painter's tape. It looked tacky but it worked. :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilt! Congratulations!!!

Your quilt is gorgeous Polly!
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! That fabric line makes such a happy quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful finish! I love the fabrics (and the name). :)
ReplyDeleteReally lovely Polly - I'm off to the Craft and Quilt fair later this week. Hi there Yogi from Snowy.
ReplyDeleteLOve the quilt. The colors are so happy. And pretty. I am in a sewing slump. So I am just looking at things that I want to get finished. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt, the pattern and fabric is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteYour Scnibble is wonderful! I love it and the fabrics you used. Not much sewing going on around here as it's the busiest time of year at work. We actually had some snow again last week, but this week we are having wonderful warm weather so I've been working in the yard. Yahoo changed some settings back in early April so I no longer get your posts by email. I feel like I've really been missing out on all my favorite blogs!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this quilt....great job!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! It certainly was a fun quilt to make. I had mine out on the floor which was tricky to do too!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love it in the Bonnie and Camille fabrics. I have some charm packs of Ruby left. I might make this pattern with them.
ReplyDeleteOh Schnibbles! I remember you talking about them in May. I love this quilt. I'm going to have to start bringing a notebook to guild meetings.
