Friendship Bag Swap

I finished my friendship swap bag and it is winging it's way to my secret swap partner. I hope she likes it! She said she likes polka dots and so I put some in! I love these bright happy plaids in hot summery colors.

I love the variegated thread I used to quilt it! It was in shades of purple, lime green, orange and pink.

I free-motioned loopy flowers in the pink squares and leaves in the green squares.

I sewed little green buttons in the centers of the flowers.

I did a rounded edged zig-zag stitch to quilt the purple polka dotted bands and handles.

I filled the bag with some pretty fat quarters and rickrack. She should get it soon!

Sew, what's next ?? I want to use some fall flannel in my stash to make a shaggy quilt! TTFN! :-)

  2. Too, too cute, Polly, just adorable!! I am always so impressed with your creations.

You're right, as I look closer, the variegated thread is a great embellishment as are the fun buttons.

  3. Your bag is wonderful and quilting with varigated thread is even better. Do you quilt on a domestic machine or a log arm????

  4. Thank you, ladies, for the sweet compliments! Don't ya just love small projects you can do in one setting?? I find I do quilt most often with varigated thread... I love the King Tut and YLI brands best. No, I quilt small projects on my Bernina Artista 640 upstairs in my sewing room and larger projects and quilts on my Juki on the dining room table where I have lots more space! I wish I had a long arm machine....but just don't have the space for it...but would love a machine with a bigger space ...like about 16-18"...but on a regular table where I still move the fabric, not the machine. I tested Pat Sloan's APQS machine "George" at the last quilt show...lovely!! But I really can't complain... I've got lots of sewing machines! Do you all have long arm machines?? Polly
