Candle Mat Fun

Yesterday was our October

bee day at my house!

DSCN2646

I love fall and Halloween,

so it was fun to set the table!

DSCN2648

I got a bundle of some really

cute Halloween fat quarters in

the blog hop prize box the other

day, so I used them to make my

bee-mates some cute little

scrappy candle mats.

This pattern has three sizes

of these cute little mats.

candle cradle pattern

I found small jar candles so I

made the smallest size for them.

DSCN2636

The center is made by folding

four squares into prairie points!

DSCN2637

Clever, huh?  You sew one on

each side of the center square.

DSCN2639

Then you add strips around

that center square, make the

quilt sandwich, quilt it,

then bind it!  All done!

DSCN2638

This one is the large size!

It fits a large candle jar!

Such a fun, quick and easy

little project that would make

a wonderful gift!  You can make

several in just a few hours!!

Think of all the scraps you

have leftover from different

holiday quilts like Halloween,

Christmas, Valentine’s Day,

Easter, July 4th… you could

make them for every holiday!

  9. I just love these. They would be great to give out for a co worker, boss, teacher. Such a clever idea.

I have been wanting to set up a sewing challenge blog, which there would be a weekly theme, then a random generator would pick someone, and they would win a little something something. If this sounds like something that you would be interested in, go check out my blog at Paula's Sewing Challenges, and tell me what you think.
