Now that I am retired, I have the time and energy to join some fun quilt-alongs!! And this one looks like allot of fun!!
(this is Lori’s block from her tutorial)
Lori at Bee In My Bonnet and Jodi at Pleasant Home are hosting The Great Granny Along.
Lori has a wonderful tutorial HERE on her blog to show us how to construct the suddenly popular granny block we will be sewing up.
The rules are simple! Make a granny block, or two or however many you want, and post them on the Flickr group called The Great Granny Along Group! You can JOIN this Flickr group by clicking HERE!
Jodi and Lori will be posting about the group throughout the summer! Come on… join us!!
Soooo, I had planned on using my Marmalade jelly roll to make Camille’s Spools Quilt. But I changed my mind when I saw these granny blocks!!
So, I subcut all the 2 1/2” strips in the jelly roll into 2 1/2” squares and sorted them into piles.
Yogi was fascinated with all this cutting, of course!!
I also cut a ton of 2 1/2” strips from my chosen ecru background fabric and subcut them into the 3 1/2” pieces and 5” pieces needed for each block.
Sooooo, I am ready to start sewing up my granny blocks!! Hopefully tomorrow!!
What are you sewing on???
Nice. I wish I had some spare time to join along. I love both of those blogs you mentioned.
ReplyDeletePleased to read you are enjoying your retirement.. Looks like Yogi is too...
ReplyDeleteWill pop over and check out the blogs thanks Polly.
Oh I soooo got sucked into this one. I ordered some mini precuts from an bay site and they just happen to be 2.5 inches! Moda's Marmalade, Tapestry, and Odds & Ends. They all go beautifully together and I think they'll make an adorable granny quilt.
ReplyDeleteNow all I need to do is clean out the sewing room so I can start! LOL
looks like you are going to have a lot of fun with that quilt a long. can;t wait to see your finished squares!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look your blog has did you design it. I don't like to get involved in these because I feel so pressured and don't do well but this one has really pulled me in and since there is no time limit I have the perfect fabric for it so I think I will give it a try. Marmalade will be great. I just have to finish this baby quilt and then I can get to it.
