I really love this month’s Schnibble called “Gentle Art”. I’ve always wanted to make a spool quilt,.. haven’t you?
I used charm squares from the “Summer House” collection!
I love the bright happy colors, which are exactly what I plan to use in my new sewing room!!
And of course, I had to change it up a bit… I added a striped middle piece on each spool to look like it was wrapped with thread.
I also left off three spools and added a pin cushion, scissors and a thimble, and some real buttons, pins and a needle.
I quilted by stitching in the ditch around each block and each spool, then I added colored thread to appear as thread coming off each spool.
I named it “Loose Threads”. I plan on hanging it in my sewing room in the new house! YAY!!
Soooo,.. Yogi wants to know what you are sewing on this week??

ReplyDeleteWhat a darling quilt! I love the addition of the stripes for the "thread", and I actually puzzled over how to best depict that but gave up - no imagination ;) I also love the cute sewing notions in the bottom corner, the fact that you plan to have those colors for your new sewing room, and that you named it Loose Threads. :)

ReplyDeleteI love the colors you used and I especially love your use of the stripes! Wow! It looks fantastic! Don't tell anyone, but yours might be my favorite.
ReplyDeleteAdore your Gentle Art quilt. You must be so creative - I never would have thought to make those changes. The "thread" is perfect. I was going to hand quilt "thread" on my spools but I don't like the way it looks so I'm taking it out. The pincushion, scissors, etc. are the perfect finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to following your blog, now that I've found you via the "Schnibbles Parade".
Dang. And I just let go of a Summer House Layer Cake! Now I want it back!
ReplyDeleteI love it - the changes, the tweaks and every single thing about it. It will make a beautiful addition to your sewing room - though it would look better in mine. ;)
Congratulations and atta-girl - it's absolutely perfect.
