As you surely know by now,…
I just retired from teaching this past June! Two months ago!
I taught special education kiddos with intellectual disabilities for 34 years.
So I’ve been given and also have collected lots of teacher and school knick knacks over the years.
And this past month I made some new school themed quilts to the mix as well.
So all my summer stuff has been packed away in tubs in the
storage room in our basement for another year and the school décor is out!!
I have a few teacher dolls…
and a few student dolls.
Lots of chalkboards…
and tons of apples!!
A few school busses…
and some wonderful sayings …
and cross stitches. And lots of little school houses!
I still have enough school fabrics and panels in my stash to make a few more quilts.
But it will have to wait now until next summer. See the napping Yogiboy on the couch?
‘Cause I got fall and Halloween sewing on my mind!!
Whatcha sewin’ on these days??
What beautiful things you have to remind you of your dedication and service. Thank you for teaching our children.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous collection! It looks terrific.
ReplyDelete34 years! Kudos to you from this mother and family of one learning challenged daughter/sister. (Adult and now in heaven.)
ReplyDelete34 years is a long time! And how lucky the students were to have YOU as their teacher.
ReplyDeleteI just love the way you decorate your home..
ReplyDeleteOh poor Yogi must be tried..LOL
LOL! I never thought of "back to School" as a separate season! You have some really cute things. But I'm especially in love with the apple wall hanging!!
ReplyDeleteI love visiting. Everything always looks so warm and inviting. You must have been a truly wonderful teacher. I imagine it was a sad "first day of school" for everyone - that you were not there.
ReplyDeleteBut.....now let the fun begin. I know Yogi is very happy that you are home.
Hugs
Your things are great. Love seeing how you incorporate them in your home. My son is a special ed teacher for the last 8 years and his girlfriend just became a Montesori teacher at a charter school in Chicago in the highest crime area. She is really having a hard time getting through to these little peanuts. I know though that in the end she will love it.
ReplyDeleteLove all your back to school goodies!!! Interesting that I taught those same wonderful kiddos - K-6 and 16-20 year olds. Sure do miss them. I retired in 05 to move and get married - didn't teach as long as you, but aren't they just the BEST kids!!!??? I miss them so much, but I love quilting too!
ReplyDeleteEverything is so colorful - I love all of your school knick knacks and collections. I ALWAYS look for Yogi - he is the contant in your life. Judy C
