I completely finished my Orange Slice quilt about a week ago, but I had to submit my favorite Christmas quilt for SewCalGal’s Christmas Quilt Show first! Then, I had to write my monthly post over at Stash Manicure… if you missed it, go HERE. It shows my tiny sewing room in detail.
Then, I was out of town with my boys and hubby in Orlando, FL to celebrate my dear Daddy’s 90th birthday! We had a wonderful weekend visiting with the whole family!!
So, now that all that’s done, time for the big reveal!!
TAAAA DAAAA!
Meet my sweet Orange Slice!
The pattern was designed by Des over at Quilt Taffy.
This is the first quilt I’ve ever made using solid white fabric.
And sooooo much orange that is not related to Halloween or fall.
I free-motion quilted big loopy flowers in the big white spaces then added a small orange button in each flower center.
These represent the aromatic orange blossoms I grew up smelling in Florida.
I realllllly love this little quilt…it is really outside-the-box for me with all this solid white and orange!
Orange Ya Glad you stuck around to see it finally finished???
I AM!! :-)
Sooooooo, what are you up to???
Polly, you free motion quilted all those flowers? Wow, they are perfect! And so is the quilt. I just love it! ~karen
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh! I love it! The workmanship is beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! The white keeps the orange fresh and not overpowering. I might have to make something like this.
ReplyDeletePolly, your quilt is just beautiful. I love the way you've quilted it and added the buttons in the centres.
ReplyDeleteWOW! It's like cool glass of orange kool aid! And it's not even related to Halloween or fall...very nice! I also like the buttons...nice touch!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Polly - I've never been a big fan of orange until I saw this quilt and the one Madame Samm is doing. Ya'll have totally changed my mind. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteThis is a very pretty, charming quilt. I love how you added the buttons, but I'm a button person. I just think it adds to the quilting in the very open block. I'm not a fan of orange or a lot of white - I see this in muslin and a civil war indigo mini floral.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Such a refreshing colour combo.
ReplyDeleteThink of the orange groves.
I love your orange quilt--it is such a happy quilt! I made an orange and white quilt myself a couple of years ago and there is just something to invigorating about orange - happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteLook how cute and clever you are!!! Love the button in the middle of the flower!
ReplyDeleteWay to step outside your comfort zone. I could take a few clues from you!
Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE that quilt! I actually bought the pattern from Quilt Taffy. Not sure what color combo I'll end up doing. The flowers and buttons are a great touch! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you had a wonderful weekend with your family and partied with your Dad for his 90th.
ReplyDeleteYour Orange Slice Quilts looks great. Love the quilting.
Oh Polly, I super ♥ this quilt! You did a fantastic job and the quilting is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVELY it is ...really it is..with buttons and all..ok, no buttons for me...I guess my ruffle and applique will have to do .lol...and what no mention that we both were doing one at the same time and you completed it way before me..lol..now that is surprising..lol
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! The button detail is so cute and you did an amazing quilting job! I wish I had a steadier hand!
ReplyDeleteBravo!!!! You are such a good manager of time. You get lots done and work full time! I thoroughly enjoyed your post on Stash Manicure. Makes me want to measure my sewing room. It might be a bit larger, but not by much.I have a window that I look out, too, but it's to the front yard and street. I use lots of plastic storage containers on wheels. I'm thinking I need to purchase 3 more to stack on the 3 that holds my scraps. Love the buttons on your Orange Slice quilt. Great job stepping out of your comfort zone. Have a FABULOUS Thanksgiving holiday!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute quilt Polly! I love the quilted flowers in the white. You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
ReplyDeletePolly, It is absolutely lovely! The contrast of the white with the oranges just makes it pop. Love the orange buttons in the middle of the loopy flowers.
