Orange Ya Glad It’s Done!!?

I completely finished my Orange Slice quilt about a week ago, but I had to submit my favorite Christmas quilt for SewCalGal’s Christmas Quilt Show first!  Then, I had to write my monthly post over at  Stash Manicure…  if you missed it, go HERE.  It shows my tiny sewing room in detail.

Then, I was out of town with my boys and hubby in Orlando, FL to celebrate my dear Daddy’s 90th birthday! We had a wonderful weekend visiting with the whole family!!

So, now that all that’s done, time for the big reveal!!

TAAAA DAAAA!

Meet my sweet Orange Slice!

The pattern was designed by Des over at Quilt Taffy.

This is the first quilt I’ve ever made using solid white fabric.

And sooooo much orange that is not related to Halloween or fall.

I free-motion quilted big loopy flowers in the big white spaces then added a small orange button in each flower center.

These represent the aromatic orange blossoms I grew up smelling in Florida.

I realllllly love this little quilt…it is really outside-the-box for me with all this solid white and orange!

  3. Absolutely beautiful! The white keeps the orange fresh and not overpowering. I might have to make something like this.

  6. It's beautiful Polly - I've never been a big fan of orange until I saw this quilt and the one Madame Samm is doing. Ya'll have totally changed my mind. :) blessings, marlene

  7. This is a very pretty, charming quilt. I love how you added the buttons, but I'm a button person. I just think it adds to the quilting in the very open block. I'm not a fan of orange or a lot of white - I see this in muslin and a civil war indigo mini floral.

    Think of the orange groves.

  9. I love your orange quilt--it is such a happy quilt! I made an orange and white quilt myself a couple of years ago and there is just something to invigorating about orange - happy stitching!

  17. Bravo!!!! You are such a good manager of time. You get lots done and work full time! I thoroughly enjoyed your post on Stash Manicure. Makes me want to measure my sewing room. It might be a bit larger, but not by much.I have a window that I look out, too, but it's to the front yard and street. I use lots of plastic storage containers on wheels. I'm thinking I need to purchase 3 more to stack on the 3 that holds my scraps. Love the buttons on your Orange Slice quilt. Great job stepping out of your comfort zone. Have a FABULOUS Thanksgiving holiday!
