Nobody puts Baby in the corner!

Except me!  Sewing in a little corner will definitely take some getting used to…

especially after having everything I ever needed within reach in my old sewing room!

So, I’m still finding where I put stuff in totes that I packed and brought to the apartment,

and where I can put them here, in my little sewing nook.

There is definitely some shakiness with this small sewing table compared with my Horn cabinet…sigh…

I pulled out one of my fat eighth bundles of Strawberry Fields fabric and am working on some new placemats and a long table runner.

Yogi is missing his bed up on my sewing table.  I think the vibration of my machine lulled him to sleep his whole life and he misses it!

I’ve got this pile of scraps from cutting the fat eighths into bricks…

hmmm…toss or keep?

  1. Hopefully you won't be stuck in a corner for too long. Keep those scraps! They are perfect for a string quilt.

  2. Keep the scraps, they are too yummy to toss. It is hard adjusting to something "not so ideal." I've been there, believe me. I also know that us quilters can get used to anything if it means we can still play with fabric! I also know we can survive 6-12 months of just about anything.

  3. Keeps....for sure. If you toss, put them in an envelope with my address. It is amaxing what we can manage to accomplish when we love the hobby so much. You must keep telling yourself that soon it will all be in order.

  7. Poor, precious little Yogi. I wish you could tell him all about his new house and that it won't be long before he is up on "his" sewing table again all sleepy and cuddly in his bed. Sigh....

  8. KEEP them, use them as leaders and enders and make then into "made fabric"

  9. Oh gosh the adjustment must be torture! You will just have to dream of the finished project until then. I think you will just have to make them into small coasters or something. There is no wasting of the fabric..It simply must become something beautiful.

  10. I hope you're able to find lots of pleasure in that little corner. I'm not one to use scraps, but I figure I can keep them and give them away...someone will use them. =)

  11. I agree with everyone else, keep them, the colors are so lovely I'm sure you'll find a use for them. Poor Yogi, I always wonder what our pets think when we make major changes. Lots of love and cuddles is the answer.

  14. I am sure you will create some lovely projects in your corner. It's only for a short time and then you will have your beautiful new home and sewing room. then Yogi can have his basket on the sewing table again...

  15. Keep the scraps and when you are finished your project, make a couple of placemats and donate them to a charity. (Mine is the Children's Hospital Gift Shop) That is what I do. They are always well received and sell well.

  18. It must be hard adjusting to your new space... hope you are dreaming while sewing of how you will enjoy your next space!

  19. I say keep the scraps or send them to me, but definitely don't toss them! It will take getting used to the smaller sewing space, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Yogi is so cute and he looks to be adjusting.

  20. Now is the time to start planning that new space - in your daytime dreaming while you are coping with not having everything within reach. Yogi's unconditional love shows all over his cute little face. In my present situation of downsizing, I would definitely toss the strips you cut off. LoL Judy C in NC

  21. I agree with some of the other commentd. If you are tossing, throw them my way. I would love the challenge of adding them to a quilt babscorbitt@gmail.com

  23. Keep!! They are so pretty. Well, I know it's hard to have a little nook after what you used to have. But I think it looks rather cute and cozy. Little Yogi - poor thing - will have to get used to things too.

  24. Definitely keep those scraps, you just never know when you will need them LOL!!! And trust me in a year or less you will get a brainwave of creativity and want them.....
You've got yourself set up reasonably well considering the space problem, and poor little Yogi, I guess he does miss his special position on the sewing table!!!!
